Integrity Lost: Fraudulent Insurance Companies, Lying Lawyers, & Blind Judges

Integrity Lost is a "memoir with a message" that starts by tracing highlights of my family history—from my father's solo emigration at fifteen years old in 1910 from Ukraine, to Newark, N.J. through my marriage to a classical pianist, my fathering of four escapade producing children, and my successful management of diverse business ventures and a law practice extending over 60 years, starting in the early 1960s. The book culminates with the story of my starting and concluding a Class Action federal lawsuit that paid nearly 800 million dollars to victims of an insurance company specializing in fraudulent claims handling. The "message," including my reflections on how that particular Class Action played out, is a cogent collection of lawsuit summaries, all of which illustrate in detail exactly how the U.S. insurance industry, from All-State to Unum, fraudulently favors its bottom lines and deprives policyholders of the benefits they often need to survive. The messaging includes a description of matters detailing the progressive degradation of the legal business—which I assert is no longer a profession—and an explanation of how the judiciary too often acts as an enabler.
